The NPPA, in a gazette notification on March 31, said that the ceiling price of the medicine is arrived at after considering the Wholesale Price Index of 12.12 per cent for the year 2022 over 2021. In the 103-page notification it has given a list of more than 900 medicines which are likely to see price changes.

Kolkata: Within a week of revising the price of 25 medicines, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has again changed the price of more than 900 medicines with immediate effect, hitting consumers hard. Proposed prices will increase the monthly medicine bill by at least 12.1 per cent – one of the steepest hikes in the recent past.
