The XE variant is a recombination of Omicron variants BA.1 and BA.2. It has sofar been identified in the United Kingdom, China and Thailand.
The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Consortium on Genomics (INSACOG) responsible for genome sequencing in the country has found the presence of XE variant in India. The XE variant is a recombination of Omicron variants BA.1 and BA.2. It has so far been identified in the United Kingdom, China and Thailand. On April 25 INSACOG said Omicron (BA.2) continues to be the dominant variant in India till date.
